Hockwold cum Wilton is a small rural village on the Norfolk – Suffolk border.
The village has many facilities including a primary school, a village club, a cricket club, a post office, 1 shop, 2 public houses, a playing field, a bowls club and a village hall.
The Parish Council is made up of 9 members who all live in Hockwold and represent the village on various matters. We are effectively the third tier of local government, the other two being Norfolk County Council and Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Council. We meet at 7.30 pm on the second Tuesday of the month at the Village Hall, Main Street, Hockwold. The public is very welcome to attend and we encourage people to speak during the open forum which is part of each formal meeting. We discuss varying issues which affect the community and are directly responsible for:
- Providing general maintenance around the village
- The allotments
- Upkeep of Cross Hill, the memorial and the war memorial
- Bus shelters and seating
- Dog fouling bins
- Most street lighting in the village
We also make comments on all planning applications although the Borough Council or County Council make the decision.
If you are interested in Hockwold why not come along to one of our meetings!
